When it comes to maternity wear, I don’t like to shop for maternity pieces. To me, they aren’t really stylish. Thanks to staying in the house this past year, I was able to wear loungewear during my entire pregnancy since the only place I was going was to the refrigerator to satisfy my pickle, mango, and ice cream cravings.
Thanks to Instagram and Facebook ads, Skims just kept popping up everytime I scrolled and I finally gave in. At first I was nervous because I don’t think being in my third trimester was the best time to try their pieces, however, because I needed some cute pregnancy loungewear, it was also the best time to buy a few pieces just to see how they fit and the quality of the material.
I will say, I am definitely a Skims fan for life now. I kept trying to fight it for so long and now I’m regretting not getting on sooner. I ordered three different styles to give them a fair chance to win me over. I thought out of these three, at least one has to fit. To my surprise, all three of them did and I have been living in them ever since.
I’m usually a size 2 or a size 4 when I’m not pregnant so I ordered a size up putting me at a size Medium. Because the pieces I chose aren’t made for maternity specifically, I ordered a size up. During pregnancy I shop at the regular places I always do when I’m not pregnant, I just order a size or two up depending on the size of my belly.
If you’re looking for some cute maternity wear you can lounge in at home, here are my picks from Skims that I’m sure you’ll love too.
Two-piece terry cloth set
It’s so funny, during my first pregnancy I was a little shy about showing my belly. This time around, all I wanted to do was walk around in a crop top and bottoms. I think it could be because being pregnant during a hot summer with record breaking temperatures made me want to walk around with as little as possible.
I absolutely love this set. The top and leggings are really stretchy and the elastic is super comfy (not that tight itchy feeling you get from regular elastic bands). The terry cloth is a little thick but not heavy. I’m also planning on wearing this after baby since the leggings are high-waist and who doesn’t love a high waist legging that gives you an hourglass shape?
This set comes as separates so you can find them and other terry pieces here.
Soft Lounge Long Slip Dress
Anything such as long night shirts, gowns, and dresses for bed I am totally obsessed with. I basically raid my husband’s drawers for his t-shirts since he’s so tall I drown in his shirts, making them comfy for bedtime (also, it’s a turn on for him to see me in his shirts so it’s basically a bonus).
I don’t think I can put into words how soft this dress is. It feels like butter when you put it on. The material alone is enough to make me buy more. The fit over my belly was so soft and comfy thanks to the amount of stretch. If there’s one item that you try from Skims, please let it be this dress. I promise you, you won’t regret it. It’s super lightweight too so it will get you through these last few weeks of summer. In this dress, I also ordered a size Medium.

Cotton Jersey Boy Short and Cotton Jersey T-Shirt
One thing about me is that I love a good boy short for bed, especially this pair. It has no elastic which makes it super comfortable and sits right at your hips. It’s really stretchy so you can wear it over your belly without it squishing your little babe, or you can wear it underneath your belly if you prefer the low-rise fit. Me, I’m more your mid-rise or high-rise bottoms type of gal so I cover my belly.
The top has a ton of stretch which surprised me because it looks really small when you take it out of the packaging. I also ordered a size Medium in both the shorts and t-shirt.
Here’s where you can shop for the top and the bottoms.
Because all of the items have a lot of stretch, I know I’ll be able to wear them once baby gets here to lounge with him all day.
