We’re 12 days into the new year and I’ve been loving my “New year, new look” so far—and by new look, I mean the way I’m able to look at my screens all day without straining my eyes. Because I’m toggling 3 computer screens throughout the day for work, on top of looking at my phone, it has somewhat affected my vision. I finally have some blue light glasses that I absolutely love. It took me a really long time to finally buy a pair because I wanted some that would actually work and be fashionable too.
I have always loved the oversized nerd frames on other people so I took a leap of faith and purchased these 9 to 5 blue light glasses by Quay Australia (I love the name btw. It’s so appropriate). As soon as they arrived, I was obsessed! It did get some getting used to as the frames are really big, but that’s also the best part about them. Because of the oversized frames, you can juggle several screens without having to adjust the glasses every time you look up or down. They also cover your peripherals.
What are blue light glasses?
Most likely, you’ve already heard of these. They have been trending for a few years now, mostly in office settings, since they have been game changers for all of us that stare at computer screens all day for a living. They are meant to block out the blue light that radiates from digital devices causing digital eye strain.
Too much blue light is bad for your vision because it goes through your retina, causing light damage to light-sensitive cells. Optometrists are concerned about the amount of blue light that we consume through our devices may lead to an increased risk of macular degeneration as we get older.
Do they work?
In my opinion, yes. I have noticed a big difference in the way my eyes feel. Usually, after I wrap up my work day, my eyes sting for the rest of the evening. So much so, that even when I look at our oven clock from across our kitchen, I feel the urge to squint. Other times, I feel so drained from screens that I don’t even want to watch TV or look at my phone.
After wearing these for the past week and a half, I noticed my eyes haven’t been stinging as much and I feel more at ease completing my work tasks from start to finish without frequent breaks caused by strained, tired eyes that I feel the need to rub.
When I first tried these on, I immediately saw that they had a very noticeable yellow tint against my face. This is really good. The heavy yellow tint helps in filtering the blue light through the lens. The frames come in a super cute soft, clear pink and black animal-print like design. The temples come in a yellow gold, which to me, give it a sleek-lux look.
Honestly, I would recommend these even if you’re not working with computers. I love them so much that I even wear them anytime we’re watching TV. I’m addicted to the comfortability they give me and Steven has mentioned several times he loves when I wear them… I’m not sure what that’s about…
Valentine’s Day is around the corner so if you need a cute little gift idea, this one would make an affordable and practical gift that will give your significant other your money’s worth. I know I’ll be getting Steven some for work, obviously in a men’s style.
For 2020 I’m all about my family’s 20/20 vision (Does the title make sense now?)
