If you’re a new mom, this miracle invention is going to save your life. I couldn’t imagine these first 8 months without our precious Doona. In every parking lot I would see moms first take out a stroller from the trunk of their car, then walk over to the side and take their baby out in their car seat and place them on top of the stroller. Or the moms lugging a diaper bag and a heavy car seat with baby inside from the car into the building. All I could think of is how uncomfortable that must be for mom’s back and arms. That easily would have been me if my cute mother-in-law didn’t gift us this awesome stroller and car seat.
We were able to take Cayden home in it from the hospital when he was first born since it came with newborn inserts. Since then, I have used it everyday, up until recently when he turned 8 months. At 8 months, Cayden is now the size of a 1 ½ year old wearing 18 months clothing and weighing a solid 30 pounds. He unfortunately grew out of it quickly as you can probably tell by the photos. I had to hurry and take these pictures as our last use and I swear I’m going to miss that thing.
As a new mom, it takes you an extra hour just to get you and baby out of the house. The Doona has cut time for me— it’s one less thing I have to worry about. Taking Cayden to all his doctors appointments has been a breeze because I’m not having to juggle or lug any apparatuses around. It’s small enough that I can stroll into the waiting and patient rooms and not take up any space. The handles can be pushed in and back to make it more compact.
Taking him places is so much fun because it’s so hassle-free. I have taken him for countless walks around our neighborhood, to the movie theatre (with his noiseblocker headsets of course), shopping, church, the office, any and everything we have needed to go to. Another really cool thing is that at restaurants you don’t need to ask for a booster seat since it’s small enough to fit in booths when you pop it to a carseat. If you’re at a table with chairs, you can pop the wheels out so baby is at your height.
It does come with accessories like a storage bag and covers but I never needed any of them. I always have a backpack that fits all of Cayden’s essentials, which I prefer over diaper bags because it keeps my arms free. In bad weather I chose to keep Cayden inside to prevent him from getting sick, but for those occasions where you don’t have the choice to keep baby inside, they have water-proof covers.
The price retails at $499 and honestly it’s absolutely worth it because you’re getting a stroller AND car seat in one. And unless your baby is growing at an abnormal rapid speed like mine, the Doona will last you up until your baby grows to 35 pounds and up to 32” tall.
If you haven’t heard about the Doona and want to know more, they have a really cool site that you can check out here. Also, if you’re curious to see how it pops in and out check out my video below…
